Lifetime’s A new true crime movie will feature Jana Kramer and Austin Nichols, known for their roles in “One Tree Hill,” TheWrap has exclusively learned. “Gaslit By My Husband: The Morgan Metzer Story” will begin filming later this month.
The made-for-TV film will be shown in the summer as part of Lifetime’s summertime Ripped from the Headlines lineup. Alongside Kramer and Nichols, the movie will also feature Kramer’s real-life daughter Jolie Rae Caussin, playing Morgan Metzer’s onscreen daughter, Amelia. Additionally, J. Barrett Cooper, Denise Dal Vera, and Maximo Sherman will star in the film.
The movie “Gaslit By My Husband” is based on the true story of Morgan Metzer. Mogan (Kramer) and Rodney (Nichols) were childhood sweethearts who got married when Morgan turned 21. However, after Rodney loses his job and falls into debt, tensions begin to arise for this picture-perfect American family. Rodney starts to convince his wife that their fights are because of her drinking — even when she’d only had one drink — and that she pushed him down the stairs in a blackout rage. After they separate, Morgan’s life starts to improve. That's until a masked intruder breaks into her house and assaults her.
After Rodney comes to her rescue, Morgan and the police notice that his story doesn’t quite add up. Is Rodney truly a hero? Or has he been manipulating his wife for years?
Apart from appearing in the movie, Kramer is also an executive producer for “Gaslit By My Husband.” She has been vocal about domestic abuse and will also shoot a new PSA for Lifetime’s “Stop Violence Against Women” campaign.
The movie is made by Allegheny Image Factory for Lifetime. In addition to Kramer, Robert Tinnell, Whitney White, and Maritte Go are executive producers, with Jeffrey Tinnell as the producer. “Gaslit By My Husband” is written by Benjamin Anderson and directed by Lee Gabiana.
