Marvel’s “Thunderbolts” is officially being filmed in Atlanta and actress Florence Pugh is showing audiences their first look. In a video posted on the Marvel Entertainment X (formerly Twitter) page, Pugh is seen leaving her trailer and displaying a few things she can “show” viewers, including her outfit, some parts of the set, and “Thunderbolts” director Jake Schreier.
Without a doubt, viewers of Pugh’s video will begin analyzing the brief images she’s presented right away. One screen in the video seems to display images of Yelena holding a gun on someone.
“Thunderbolts” marks Pugh’s return to the role of Yelena Belova from the 2021 film “Black Widow.” She will be appearing alongside Rachel Weisz, Geraldine Viswanathan, Wyatt Russell, and Sebastian Stan.
The story of the main feature is still a secret, but the comics focus on a group of villains carrying out missions for the government.
“Black Widow” screenwriter Eric Pearson is also working on this script, with Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige as the producer. In February, it was announced that “The Bear” showrunner Joanna Calo had been brought in to refine the script.
Originally, the film was set to be released this July, but the dual WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes led to a delay in filming. Due to this delay, there have been adjustments with the casting. In January of this year, it was revealed that actor Steven Yeun would not be joining the cast, according to insiders. Around the same time, it was announced that “Drive-Away Dolls” star Geraldine Viswanathan had taken on a role originally meant for Ayo Edebiri.
“Thunderbolts” is set to be released in theaters on July 25, 2025.
