Calgary police are giving out information about the move of a dangerous criminal for the public's safety
Cody James Neubecker, 37, has been let out by the Calgary Police Service Calgary Police Service freed him into the community on Wednesday after he completed a five-year sentence for having child pornography and disobeying a court order.
CPS said Neubecker had past convictions for sexual crimes, including offenses involving children, accessing child pornography, exposing himself to a minor, and having child pornography. Most of these crimes were committed in and around Calgary, according to the police.
Neubecker is described as about six feet tall, around 220 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes.
He will be supervised by the CPS high-risk offender program and has to follow a peace bond under section 810.1 of the Criminal Code.
The high-risk offender program watches over criminals who have been released by the courts and are considered likely to commit violent or sexual crimes again. Officers assess the risk factors of the criminal and make sure they are following the conditions set by the court, such as electronic monitoring, restrictions on weapons and drugs, curfews, and required counseling and treatment.
“The Calgary Police Service is sharing this information and warning after careful thought and consideration of all related issues, including privacy concerns, because it is clearly important to let the community know about Neubecker's release,” police said.
Police mentioned that the information being shared is to help the public take precautions and not to take part in any vigilante actions.
