Toronto police have stated that they are not conducting an investigation into Raptors backup centre Jontay Porter, who is being looked into in connection with an NBA gambling inquiry.
The NBA is examining whether Porter intentionally left two games early to affect prop bets related to him.
Both games in which Porter reportedly influenced the prop bets occurred in Toronto.
Even though online gambling is legal in Ontario, the NBA has strict rules preventing players and league personnel from participating in bets on professional basketball.
Canadian law enforcement is limited in their ability to prosecute match fixing due to the absence of specific provisions in the Criminal Code to prohibit it.
Porter is not with the Raptors while the NBA conducts its investigation.
