Warner Bros. Motion Picture Group announced on Tuesday that they have signed a multi-year, first-look feature film deal with rising star Timothée Chalamet.
The agreement strengthens their connection after his successful roles in the studio’s “Dune” movies and “Wonka.” It will enable the 28-year-old actor to create, produce, and act in new films for the studio.
Chalamet played the role of Paul Atreides in Denis Villeneuve’s “Dune” in 2021 and its popular sequel “Dune: Part Two” this year, which has earned over $575 million globally so far. He also starred in the holiday hit “Wonka,” as a young Willy Wonka, earning $632 million worldwide.
“In recent years, we have not only appreciated Timothée’s dedication to his acting, as shown in the variety and depth of his different roles, but also his consistent commitment to devote his full time and attention to every project he has worked on here at Warner Bros. and elsewhere,” said Mike De Luca and Pam Abdy, co-chairs and CEOs at Warner Bros. Motion Picture Group, in a statement to TheWrap. “His involvement in the campaigns for ‘Dune’ and ‘Wonka’ was something we all greatly enjoyed, and the results speak for themselves. We are continuing to build for the future of the movie industry at Warner Bros. Discovery, and we are excited that Timothée has selected our studio as his creative home.”
Chalamet commented: “Working with Mike De Luca, Pam Abdy, and their teams on ‘Wonka’ and ‘Dune’ over these past few years has been a deeply satisfying experience. These are studio leaders who believe in genuine filmmaking, and I am very thankful for their support as an actor, producer, and collaborator. This partnership feels like a logical next step. Let’s do this!”
The actor from New York became the first actor in over 40 years to star in the two highest-earning domestic releases within an eight-month period. His other movies include “Call Me By Your Name,” for which he received an Oscar nomination at 22, as well as “Little Women,” “Don’t Look Up” and “Bones and All.”
Chalamet previously worked as a producer on Luca Guadagnino’s “Bones and All” for MGM Studios and is currently filming James Mangold’s “A Complete Unknown” for Searchlight, in which he stars as Bob Dylan and is also a producer.
He is represented by Brian Swardstrom, UTA, Ginsburg Daniels Kallis, and Relevant.
