The Saskatchewan RCMP major crimes unit arrested a 32-year-old woman as part of an ongoing investigation into the 2022 death of Cory Papequash, a 51-year-old from The Key First Nation.
Natashia Marie Keshane from The Key First Nation was charged with first-degree murder on March 22.
According to a previous statement, Kamsack RCMP received a report of a gunshot at a residence in the community on Oct. 23, 2022.
“Officers immediately responded and found an injured male in the residence. He was pronounced dead by EMS at the scene. He has been identified as a 51-year-old male from The Key First Nation,” a statement said.
“Kamsack RCMP, Yorkton RCMP Forensic Identification Services, RCMP Historical Crimes Unit and the Regina Provincial RCMP General Investigation Section all helped with the initial investigation.”
The accused appeared in Yorkton provincial court on Monday.
