Halifax Regional Police have allowed a man to leave without being charged after another man died in Dartmouth on Monday morning.
The incident was first reported as a suspicious death but police announced on Tuesday that they are treating it as a homicide.
Officers were summoned to a disturbance at a residence on Pinecrest Drive shortly after 7 a.m. on Monday morning. They discovered the victim inside the building.
“Police detained a 47-year-old man, who was acquainted with the deceased, at the scene,” police stated in a release.
“The 47-year-old man was set free later that day without being charged.”
The statement mentioned that investigators do not believe this was a random event, and they are not currently seeking additional suspects.
