The The Defence Headquarters has announced that soldiers from Operation Hadrin Daji saved 16 Almajiris and a woman who were kidnapped in Gada Local Government Area of Sokoto State.
The PUNCH had reported that some terrorists had invaded the LGA on March 9, 2024, and kidnapped the rescued victims.
In a statement on Saturday, the DHQ, represented by Major General Buba Edward, mentioned that the troops collaborated with local authorities and government agencies to ensure the hostages' freedom.
The statement stated that terrorists had invaded Gada LGA of Sokoto State and abducted 16 pupils (Almajiris) along with a woman.
The military, along with local authorities and government agencies, conducted a coordinated search and rescue operation on 21 March 2024, resulting in the liberation of the hostages. The rescued individuals have been handed over to the Sokoto State Government for further action.
