The Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, expressed concern about how the Ramadan feeding programme in the Kano metropolis is being carried out.
Yusuf was disappointed with the programme when he made a surprise visit to a feeding center in Gidan Maza, Municipal Local Government Area.
The state government allocated over N5 billion for the Ramadan feeding programme.
However, he was not happy with the way the programme handlers were conducting it, as he believes they are not giving the intended beneficiaries their meals.
He stated, “We will not accept dishonesty and mismanagement of public resources. It is important to note that the funds allocated for this initiative are carefully recorded at each center,” the governor cautioned.
The governor decided to inspect the feeding programme after receiving reports indicating deficiencies in its management at different centers across the metropolis.
He warned that any government official found to be misappropriating the funds designated for the programme would face serious consequences.
