The Kano State chapter of the All Progressives Congress has questioned the state government to confirm the N6 billion it used for the Ramadan feeding program.
This demand comes after Governor Abba Yusuf expressed disappointment with the ongoing Ramadan feeding program in Kano.
The state APC chairman, Alhaji Abdullahi Abbas, issued the challenge to the governor during the distribution of palliatives to APC leaders and supporters in the state on Saturday.
The food distribution started in Dawkins Kudu local government area of Kano State.
Abbas criticized the program and asked the state government to prove that the food being given out is worth the amount spent on the program.
He stated, “We are aware of the Federal Government, Dangote and BUA providing palliatives, so they need to prove they spent the mentioned amount on the program.
“The food we are distributing to our supporters was purchased through contributions from ourselves as we don’t rely on the government.”
During his speech, the Chief of Staff to the APC National Chairman, Muhammad Garba, who represented his leader at the event, mentioned that they bought 5,840 50kg bags of rice, 1,600 bags of millet, and 2,000 cartons of spaghetti to distribute to their supporters and other people in Kano.
Garba explained that the National Chairman of the APC, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje initiated the idea of the party palliative, with Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin, and others contributing to purchasing the food items.
He stated that 484 wardsspread across the 44 local government areas of the state will benefit from the gesture, which will be given to all party supporters, social media influencers, as well as other ordinary party staff.
“Our National Chairman, Dr. Umar Ganduje, plans to ensure that the palliative efforts continue to ease the economic challenges, which are temporary with President Tinubu’s efforts to address the issues.
*So, we found it necessary to support our party supporters and leaders across the 484 wards, especially during this Ramadan period, as we are in a privileged position, “he added.
