The most recent funding will go through the British Columbia's Community Housing Fund. will add almost 600 rental homes to areas in the Interior and northern B.C. Ravi Kahlon, the Housing Minister, said the province has chosen 15 projects in those regions for development in collaboration with local non-profit housing providers.
Kahlon announced the news in Okanagan Falls, south of Penticton, at a housing project that already provides 26 rental homes for seniors and will have more housing built using the latest funding.
After the recent announcements of nearly 870 affordable units on Vancouver Island and almost 2,000 homes in Metro Vancouver, this update is provided.
The Housing Ministry states that the province has identified over 40 new projects for this funding round, leading to about 3,500 affordable rental homes across the province.
Since the fund's launch in 2018, a total of 12,500 homes have either been opened or are under construction.
