The police in Kaduna State say they stopped an attempted kidnapping on the Buruku-Kaduna road on Thursday.
The police spokesperson, ASP Mansir Hassan, stated on Friday in Kaduna that the bandits were forced to withdraw due to the strength of the officers.
“On March 21, at 1300hrs, officers from the 47PMF stationed at Buruku Police Station successfully stopped an attempted kidnapping by bandits along the Buruku-Kaduna road.
“While on a routine crime prevention patrol on the road, the vigilant PMF personnel saw bandits near Corner Ugara. When the PMF personnel saw the bandits, they started shooting, which led to an immediate response from the officers.
“Showing great courage and professionalism, the PMF personnel shot back, effectively eliminating the threat posed by the armed bandits.
“The gunfight forced the bandits to retreat into the nearby bush.
“Despite their efforts to escape, the bandits sustained fatal injuries during the confrontation,” he said.
Hassan mentioned that the Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Audu Ali, praised the bravery and quick action of the mobile policemen in preventing what could have been a tragic incident.
He encouraged the public to stay watchful and promptly report any suspicious activities to the authorities.
