While voting on the bill to fund the government, Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) gave a formal statement to the parliamentarian after previously indicating she would initiate a process to remove Speaker Johnson.
Jake Sherman, a reporter for Punchbowl News, posted:
🚨BREAKING NEWS — MTG chatting with the floor staff, just handed a piece of paper with a resolution to the parliamentarian staff.
She threatened earlier to file a motion to vacate….@bresreports and i just witnessed it.

Greene did indeed initiate the process to remove Johnson.
Prior to the vote, Greene expressed dissatisfaction with the government funding bill while addressing the House.
No Republican in good conscience can vote for the uniparty minibus.
This is not a Republican bill. It is a Chuck Schumer, Democrat-controlled bill coming from the “Republican-controlled” House.

For months, Greene has been making threats against Speaker Johnson , but House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries suggested that Johnson could potentially be saved from the removal process if he agrees to a vote on aid for Ukraine. Democrats might not vote as a unified group to retain Johnson, but Jeffries would probably allow members to vote according to their own beliefs. This could provide Democrats in conservative districts with the option to support Johnson, potentially securing his position.
The removal process could lead to chaos in the House, and it seems that this is likely to occur as Greene's allies are advising reporters to “tune in” to the House floor.
The situation in the House may become very intriguing.
