The Delta State Police Command has arrested three teenagers for staging their friend's kidnapping and getting N700,000 by threatening.
The information was shared in a statement by the state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, on his X account on Friday.
He stated, “These three suspects are friends, all 17 years old. They planned and faked the kidnapping of their friend in Agbor, called one of their parents, and asked for a ransom. They were caught after receiving N700,000.
“Tell our boys to be calm. Taking shortcuts to success leads to a short life. It's unbelievable that a 17-year-old would pretend to be kidnapped just to get money from the parent.
“The unfortunate part is that the parents will start rushing around to help them avoid punishment. Justice must be done.”
