A bombing by a person who killed themselves killed three individuals and injured 12 others near a bank in the southern Afghan city of Kandahar on Thursday, as stated by an official in the province.
Inamullah Samangani, who is the Director of Information and Culture of Kandahar province, told AFP that a suicide attack resulted in the deaths of three people and injuries to 12 others based on initial information.
At approximately 8:00 am (0330 GMT), an explosion targeted a crowd of people waiting outside the New Kabul Bank branch in Kandahar.
Samangani mentioned that people typically gather there to receive their wages and clarified that the victims were civilians.
The frequency of bomb explosions and suicide attacks in Afghanistan has significantly decreased since the Taliban ceased their rebellion following their assumption of power in August 2021, displacing the US-supported government.
Nevertheless, various armed groups, including the regional branch of the Islamic State group, continue to pose a threat.
