JACKSON TWP. — A person who was imprisoned at the State Correctional Institution at Dallas, Jackson Township, ended his own life, as stated in an announcement from Luzerne County Coroner Jill Matthews.
Carlos Corredor, aged 42, was discovered unconscious in his room on Tuesday morning, according to Jasen Bohinski, who is currently the acting superintendent of SCI-Dallas.
Prison personnel administered life-saving measures until Corredor was taken to Wilkes-Barre General Hospital, where he was declared dead.
Corredor had been serving a sentence of eight to 20 years for the rape of a child in Philadelphia County. He was transferred to SCI Dallas on Feb. 29.
An autopsy on Corredor was carried out by forensic pathologist Dr. Charles Siebert.
Matthews stated that the cause of death was by hanging and classified the manner of death as suicide.
