Margot Robbie's company LuckyChap is producing an adaptation of the long-running computer game franchise “The Sims”. The film will be directed and co-written by the director of the Disney+ series “Loki” and Briony Redman.
Margot Robbie and her LuckyChap partners Josey McNamara and Tom Ackerley will also be producing, along with Roy Lee from Vertigo Entertainment.
“The Sims” is a simulator game where players control virtual avatars, allowing them to do various things, including finding different ways to eliminate their virtual characters. The game first came out in 2000, and recently, an expansion pack was released, allowing players to become landlords.
There isn't much information available beyond that, so we don't know how much of “The Sims” story will be in the movie or who might star in it.
The studio that will acquire the movie is also not known. It was previously reported in February that Robbie’s LuckyChap had established a first look deal with Warner Bros. Discovery. This deal came after the movie “Barbie” made $1.45 billion at the box office globally, making it the highest grossing film in Warner Bros. history.
It was also announced in December that the company’s Christmas feature “Naughty,” directed by Olivia Wilde, will be released by Universal, potentially becoming the home for this movie as well.Other projects from LuckyChap include
a remake of the 1934 crime comedy “The Thin Man,” which is a collaboration between Robbie’s company and Brad Pitt’s Plan B. This information was initially reported by
The InSneider. “Loki” director Kate Herron is connected to the project produced by LuckyChap and Vertigo Entertainment..
