The Federal Civil Service Commission plans to use computer-based tests for staff promotional exams as part of its reformed plans.
The Chairman, FCSC, Prof. Tunji Olaopa, revealed this at the first edition of the commission’s monthly seminar series in Abuja on Thursday.
Olaopa spoke about ‘The Institutional Framework and Procedure for the Conduct of Directorate Level Exercise: Guaranteeing Integrity, Transparency and Accountability of Standard Practices.'
He mentioned, “The commission is transitioning to computer-based tests and modernizing its core operations for the upcoming 2024 promotion exercise.
“The commission is also introducing an online recruitment portal for all Nigerians, allowing eligible candidates to fill and update recruitment forms ahead of advertisement for federal service positions.
“Eligible candidates will now undergo computer-based tests and oral interviews, with results collected and released in real-time.
“FCSC is entering into an outsourcing contract with the National Open University of Nigeria and JAMB for online accreditation, CBT exams, and promotion interviews for federal service officers, starting with the Directorate-level officers.
The chairman hoped that the reformed plan would enhance the professionalism of the commission.
He stated, “We are optimistic that the efforts to strengthen the professionalism of the federal bureaucracy will support the Renewed Hope Agenda of the President, ultimately relieving the burdens and pains created by the policies of the Federal Government.
In his remarks, the Director of Examinations and Assessment, National Open University of Nigeria, Prof. Olugbenga Ojo said, “I am here to support the use of CBT for conducting promotion exams for directorate level.
“We have displayed our devices to demonstrate how we can assist the commission. We have informed them of the advantages of the CBT and what they need to provide for us to operate effectively.”
