“Avatar: The Last Airbender” Claiming the number one position on Nielsen's latest Top 10 list, the Netflix fantasy series managed to accumulate 2.56 billion minutes of viewing in the initial four days of its availability.
During the period of Feb. 19 to 25, the second spot on the list was held by a Netflix original, 'Love Is Blind.' With the release of Episodes 7, 8, and 9 in Season 6, this dating reality series garnered 2.41 billion viewing minutes, making it the most-watched show among women, with 74% of its audience being female. In contrast, 54% of the viewers of “Avatar” identified as male.
Other notable shows on Nielsen’s top 10 streaming list during this period included “Bluey” on Disney+, “Warrior” on both Max and Netflix, and “Young Sheldon” on Max and Netflix. These three series secured the third, fourth, and fifth place on the list, respectively.
An enduring contender on this list, “Bluey” garnered 1.081 billion viewing minutes. Meanwhile, both “Warrior” and “Young Sheldon” demonstrated that licensing content to Netflix consistently elevates streaming viewership. “Warrior,” originally premiered on Cinemax in 2019, moved to Max in 2023 and was canceled later that year after three seasons, accumulated 948 million viewing minutes. “Young Sheldon,” following its licensing deal from CBS, continued to attract viewers, bringing in 936 million viewing minutes. After being made available on Netflix in mid-November of 2023, “Young Sheldon” became the most-watched series in December, accumulating 6.7 billion viewing minutes. the most-watched series throughout the month of December, bringing in 6.7 billion viewing minutes.
The overall Top 10 list also featured “Grey’s Anatomy” on Netflix (901 million viewing minutes); “True Detective” on Max (889 million viewing minutes); “NCIS” on Netflix and Paramount+ (737 million viewing minutes); “Monk” on Netflix, Peacock and Prime Video (705 million viewing minutes); and “Suits” on Netflix and Peacock (702 million viewing minutes). During this period, “True Detective” achieved its highest viewership for its “Night Country” season.
Additional notable findings that did not make the overall Top 10 list pertained to Netflix and Apple TV+ shows. Season 6 of “Formula 1: Drive to Survive” on Netflix attracted 337 million viewing minutes, and the Tyler Perry legal thriller “Mea Culpa” became the most-watched movie with 693 million viewing minutes. Although the 30th Annual SAG Awards did not feature on any of Nielsen’s lists, it brought in 170 million viewing minutes for Netflix.
Subsequent to the release of its sixth episode, “Masters of the Air” on Apple TV+ saw an increase of 12%, accumulating 271 million viewing minutes.
