The Defence Minister, Alhaji Muhammed Abubakar, guaranteed everyone that the kidnapped students from Kuriga Secondary and Primary Schools in Kaduna will be rescued soon.
The minister also promised that the perpetrators responsible for the killing of soldiers in the Okuama community of Delta State will be identified and dealt with decisively.
In Kaduna, the minister addressed troops from 1 Division Nigerian Army who are fighting bandits in the North-Western states.
Abubakar visited the state to support the military in combating terrorism in the North-west zone, their area of responsibility.
Last week, 17 officers and soldiers on a peace mission were killed in the Okuama community of Delta State.
The minister stated that President Bola Tinubu is aware of their sacrifices and pleased with their efforts.
However, Abubakar informed the troops that the President expects more from them to address all forms of insecurity across the country.
He assured them, “We have the strength, will, determination, and high morale to end insecurity. I am aware of your efforts to safely rescue the school children. Keep your morale high. The President fully supports you.
“I have been briefed on your efforts to rescue the kidnapped school children. The strategies I have been briefed about are progressing well, and I am confident you will succeed.
“We will liberate those children and reunite them with their parents.
“We appreciate your tireless nights to keep us safe.”
The minister expressed sorrow over the killing of officers and soldiers of the Nigerian Army in Delta State, sympathizing with the families of the deceased soldiers.
“We will find the killers of our soldiers and deal with them. They will not escape punishment for killing our men; we will take firm action against them,” he stated.
