A man is now in prison after Winnipeg police caught someone allegedly taking sunglasses at the outlet mall on Sterling Lyon Parkway.
Wednesday afternoon, officers were informed about a familiar man who was witnessed shoplifting sunglasses as part of the Retail Theft Initiative, authorities stated.
Upon arriving, police witnessed a man fleeing the mall with the glasses and pursued him.
The suspect was apprehended in the 1700 block of Taylor Avenue, authorities reported.
Police found three pairs of sunglasses, valued at approximately $1,400, in the possession of the 36-year-old.
An inquiry connected the man to 11 other thefts at the outlet mall and other places, with authorities stating that the suspect took off with over $16,400 worth of items.
