The spouse of President Bola Tinubu, Oluremi, mentioned on Wednesday that the Federal Government’s economic reforms are fitting for the country because they would assist us in creating a Nigeria that is more esteemed.
She also recommended a revival of agriculture and encouraged Nigerians to cultivate their own food.
“The President has made the correct choices. These choices will assist us in creating a Nigeria that is more esteemed. We should be more responsible as a people in relation to our resources,” said Mrs Tinubu when she welcomed the Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations, Amina Mohammed, in her office at the State House, Abuja.
The First Lady’s Special Adviser on Media, Busola Kukoyi, disclosed this in a statement she signed Wednesday titled, ‘We can grow our food; everyone should grow something – Oluremi Tinubu.’
While reaffirming her call to Nigerians to become more involved in agricultural production, Mrs. Tinubu noted that the various interventions of the Renewed Hope Initiative, especially in the areas of agriculture, empowerment, education, health and social welfare, are to complement the efforts of her husband, the President.
She also stressed the importance of inspiring the youth to think appropriately about the nation.
This, she said, explains why the RHI organised the #ONE NIGERIA/Unity Fabric for youths aged 15 to 25 years.
“We have to motivate them to consider Nigeria first before any State.
“Youth between 15 and 25 years will design the fabric depicting Nigeria, not just their state or tribe.
“The prize money is substantial,” she stated.
In her efforts to reach internally displaced persons, Mrs Tinubu said the RHI has commenced its monthly Food Outreach Program to the IDPs and Persons with Disabilities.
“I am not being deterred. I will continue to do all I can for the people,” she affirmed.
In her remarks, the Deputy Secretary-General of the UN, Amina Mohammed, explained that the Organisation is looking forward to Nigeria committing more funds to youth, women, and Girls.
“We need your voice to what the UN is doing with women empowerment, girls, poverty alleviation, education and the rest,” said Mohammed.
She expressed the UN’s readiness to partner with the First Lady’s Renewed Hope Initiative in these areas, knowing that Tinubu is passionate about them.
During the visit, Mohammed also introduced the new Resident Coordinator of the UN in Nigeria, Mohamed Moustapha Malik Fall, to the First Lady.
