The festival, celebrating its 35th year, has revealed the initial lineup of major performances taking place downtown in June.
The Winnipeg International Jazz Festival, which takes place from June 14-22, has disclosed five of its top international artists scheduled to perform at Knox United Church and the historic Burton Cummings Theatre.
Angela Heck, the executive director of Jazz Winnipeg, stated, “For our 35th year, we’re going to continue to groove together in downtown Winnipeg with artists that represent the breadth of what’s exciting in the contemporary jazz world.”

The headliners include the Preservation Hall Jazz Band, a well-established group from New Orleans since the early 1960s, who will perform at the Burt on June 20, with local woodwind specialist Sean Irvine’s Kind Neighbours project as the opening act.
Talented U.S. vocalist Veronica Swift will be at the theatre two days later, supported by French-American singer Laura Anglade.
At Knox United, in the Central Park area, jazz Afrofuturists Isaiah Collier + The Chosen Few will perform, with an opening set by local sax player INGIA on June 14.
Contemporary jazz maestro Benny Green will perform solo piano, with Juno-winning Winnipeg guitarist Jocelyn Gould opening on June 15, and Italian-born jazz guitarist Pasquale Grasso and his trio playing on June 17, with local support from Free Time.
Tickets for the headlining shows will go on sale Friday at 10 a.m. at Ticketmaster (Burton Cummings Theatre) and Showpass (Knox United Church).
