Masked gunmen allegedly entered the Idowa community in the Odogbolu Local Government area of Ogun State on Monday afternoon.
They seized the farm manager at Flourishing Poultry Farm, Tunde Osifowokan.
Osifowokan is reported to be the sibling of the owner of the poultry farm.
There are also reports of an incident involving a member of the Hausa community in the town.
Isiaka Aileru, who went to his farm on Monday, has not been seen since, according to sources.
There are concerns that he may have been taken by the same gunmen.
The gunmen are said to have arrived at the farm in a military-like manner.
They asked for the owner of the business, who was away but expected to return that day.
When none of the workers would speak out of fear, Osifowokan reportedly stood up and said the owner of the farm was not there.
The criminals apparently asked him to identify himself and he stated that he was the owner's sibling.
Chief Yusuf Olusanya, the Sobaloju of Idowa, confirmed the incident while speaking with PUNCH Online on Wednesday.
Olusanya mentioned, “Yes, the incident is true. The criminals, according to what I heard, came wearing masks and shooting randomly.
“They demanded the owner of the poultry farm, but since none of the workers was actually the owner, they remained silent.
“However, one of them stood up and when the criminals asked him to identify himself, he said he is the owner's sibling. That's how they took him.
“While trying to escape, they shot at one driver in the neck and riddled his vehicle, which he uses to transport blocks, with bullets.
“The belief is that this same group might be responsible for the disappearance of Mallam Isiaka Aileru.
“The police at Idowa, Odogbolu and even the Area Commander from Ijebu-Ode have all been here, but as we speak, we have not heard anything regarding a demand for ransom from these abductors.
Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alamutu, confirmed the abduction of the poultry farm manager, stating that the police are using all their resources and intelligence to ensure that the victim is freed.
Alamutu said, “There was indeed a kidnapping, but only one person is involved and not two; if they are looking for another person, it may not be a kidnapping.
“If the person has not returned home, they should give us another 24 hours before they will go and make an official complaint.
