Airdrie RCMP warned drivers to be careful on the roads on Wednesday as highway conditions were described as “less than ideal” while officers responded to a collision on Highway 2.
Police stated, “We want to remind the public that when road conditions are not good, it's best to slow down and drive according to the road conditions, while being aware of emergency services at the scenes.”
At 9:45 a.m., the RCMP released a news statement announcing that officers had been called to the northbound lanes of Highway 2 near Veterans Boulevard due to a collision involving a semi-truck.
Police reported that one northbound lane was obstructed and that “traffic is slow in this area.”
“Southbound lanes on Highway 2 north of Airdrie are also reduced to one lane due to a separate incident.”
Police did not mention if anyone was injured in either incident.
Earlier in the morning, High River RCMP cautioned people to drive carefully and “according to the conditions of the road” after handling a collision south of Calgary.
Much of southern Alberta was still under a snowfall warning on Wednesday which had been issued by Environment and Climate Change Canada a day earlier.
