Kingston, Ont., police cars are getting a makeover.
The department revealed pictures of a new style for all police cars on Tuesday.
Chief Scott Fraser stated that the changes, suggested by patrol members, will give city police a more noticeable, modern appearance.
“The new look will update our fleet and provide better visibility, leading to enhanced safety,” he said in a statement.
“Thanks to our staff for introducing this new look.”

The new design features what police call a “simpler and bolder black-on-white combination to maximize visibility on Kingston roads for cruisers and other fleet vehicles.”
Court Services vehicles, used by Kingston Police special constables, will now have “Court Services” displayed on the side of the new vehicles, replacing the standard “Police” lettering, officials noted.
The new design will be implemented through “natural attrition,” with vehicle graphics changing as they are replaced, so the full transition will take a few years to be visible throughout the fleet, police said.
The first cruisers with the new design will start appearing on Kingston streets in the next few days.
