The Winnipeg Jets are in New York City for a Tuesday night game against the Rangers, but their head coach won’t be on the bench.
The team said Rick Bowness went back to Winnipeg for a small medical procedure and associate coach Scott Arniel will take over until he returns.

The Jets’ head coach previously took a leave of absence in late October 2023, because his wife, Judy, had a medical emergency. He came back to the team about a month later with Arniel taking over while he was away.
