A person unfamiliar to the residents managed to get into a South Okanagan home and might end up facing legal action.
According to Penticton RCMP, the homeowner found the intruder in the kitchen early on Wednesday, March 13, at 4:30 a.m.
Police stated that when the homeowner confronted the man, he was not hostile and agreed to leave. After the man left, the homeowner called 911.
Officers quickly arrived at the Atkinson Street address, along with assistance from Police Dog Services.
Police conducted an extensive search, but did not find the suspect.
However, they mentioned that no one was harmed during the incident and it seemed that nothing valuable was stolen.
Nevertheless, following further investigation, a 35-year-old man already known to the police was detained, and RCMP stated that they will provide their findings to the BC Prosecution Service.
Cpl. Grandy stated, “This kind of situation is a homeowner’s worst fear.
The resident’s quick action in calling 911 was vital for their safety and later aided officers in obtaining evidence to identify the suspect.
