The Delta State Police Command confirmed that two people were killed during a fight between motorcycle riders and the state task force on Sunday night.
The disturbance in Delta state capital, Asaba, on Monday, was a result of the fight, the police stated.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Bright Edafe, revealed this on Monday through his X handle.
Edafe explained that the motorcycle riders were protesting the deadly fight by causing damage and attacking people, which led the police to send officers to control the situation.
He stated, “There was a violent protest this morning by Okada riders who had an issue last night with the state task force that led to the death of two persons.
“They mobilised in their numbers this morning, destroying property and beating people. Hence, our men were deployed to control the situation before it turned into something else.”
