Two people got hurt after a potential suicide bomber set off a homemade bomb attached to his body near a mosque in Biu Local Government of Borno State.
The state Public Relations Officer, ASP Daso Nahum, verified the event on Monday.
Nahum mentioned that the victims have been taken to the hospital.
He stated that the incident happened at around 8 pm on Sunday while the Muslim faithful were doing their night prayers.
He mentioned, “The male suicide bomber, who was believed to be going to the mosque, exploded the Improvised Explosive Device near the roundabout, killing himself.
”Two passersby who were injured by the explosion were promptly taken to a hospital for treatment.
”A combined team of security personnel were quickly sent to the scene of the incident to restore normalcy.”
However, the police chief encouraged people to increase their level of vigilance, particularly during this Ramadan period when most Muslim faithful are doing late night prayers.
He said, “People should ensure that they are watchful and should not hesitate to report any suspicious actions to the security agencies.”
