A recent survey indicates that a criminal conviction in Manhattan would seriously damage and possibly ruin Trump’s chances of becoming president.
Politico Ipsos asked the American people to participate in a survey about Trump’s criminal cases and the Supreme Court, and the results were very unfavorable for Trump among Independents.
This is what Politico said:
The majority of respondents — 44 percent — stated that a conviction in Manhattan would not change their support for Trump as a presidential candidate, but there is more to the story.
Among those who indicated that a conviction would impact their decision, the outlook was unfavorable for Trump.
…
More than twice as many respondents said that a conviction would decrease their likelihood to support Trump (32 percent) compared to increasing it (13 percent). Importantly, over a third of independents said it would reduce their likelihood to support Trump. Predictably, the majority of respondents who said that a conviction would strengthen their support were Republicans.
A Felony Conviction In Manhattan Would Virtually Eliminate Trump's Chances Of Being Elected
Trump has not been able to win back Nikki Haley voters who voted against him in the Republican presidential primary. It appears that the former president only has the backing of approximately 65%-70% of Republicans, so he is on the brink of being unelectable. Many of those Republicans may reluctantly vote for Trump in November.
If Trump is convicted in Manhattan, and a third of Independents reject him, it could ruin his campaign, as the Republican Party would have a nominee who cannot garner enough potential voters' support.
Donald Trump becomes virtually unelectable if he gets convicted of a felony.
It is now evident that the Republican claim that the criminal cases benefit Trump is completely untrue. A Trump criminal conviction would severely harm his campaign.
Voters may not be committed to a candidate for the election yet, but many have already decided that they will not vote for a convicted felon in November.
