“Real Time With Bill Maher” will now be accessible on CNN the Saturdays after airing on HBO, expanding its audience across Warner Bros. Discovery.
The show will still be available on Max for live and on-demand viewing. The second showings will start this weekend on March 23.
“The addition of ‘Real Time With Bill Maher’ to CNN’s weekend primetime lineup shows our commitment to bringing topical entertainment programming to weekends,” said Amy Entelis, CNN executive vice president of talent for CNN Originals and creative development for CNN Worldwide, in a press release. “Audiences enjoy Bill’s perspective and approach to news and information, and we’re excited to have the show on CNN.”
The post-show segment for “Real Time,” titled “Overtime,” will still be available on YouTube but will no longer be accessible on CNN Fridays as it was before.
Maher’s HBO show is currently in its 22nd season. The late-night comedian first teamed up with HBO in 1989 for his initial special. Since then, Maher has appeared in 12 HBO solo specials, not including “Real Time,” which started in 2003. This year, the show was renewed for two more seasons, keeping it on the air until 2026.
“Real Time” is produced by Maher Sheila Griffiths, Marc Gurvitz, Dean Johnsen and Billy Martin. Chris Kelly is the co-executive producer, and Matt Wood produces the series. Paul Casey is the talk show’s director.
Before joining HBO, Maher hosted “Politically Incorrect” on Comedy Central from 1993 to 2002.
