The husband of a woman who was fatally stabbed in Abbotsford, B.C., has been officially charged with homicide by B.C.’s Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) on Sunday.
The event occurred on Friday night at about 10:50 p.m. when Abbotsford police responded to a report of a ongoing assault on Wagner Drive.
Upon arrival, law enforcement discovered 41-year-old Balwinder Kaur, from Abbotsford, inside a residence with critical stab wounds. She passed away in the hospital shortly after.
Authorities stated that a man who was “known to the victim” was apprehended at the scene.
Jagpreet Singh, the spouse of Balwinder Kaur, has been charged with second-degree homicide.
“This was a solitary occurrence,” said Sgt. Timothy Pierotti of IHIT.
“IHIT will persist in collaborating with AbbyPD in the following days, not only to progress this investigation, but to provide support to the community impacted by this tragic event.”

Police mentioned that no further details will be disclosed as the case is currently before the courts.
