People affected by the current demolition by the Oyo State Government in Ona Ara and Oluyole Local Government Areas of the state protested on Sunday to ask the state governor, Seyi Makinde, for help.
According to The PUNCH, the government started demolishing some buildings near the circular road in the council areas last Tuesday
The affected communities include Fashade; Aba Osho; Igbalefa; Adigbe; Badeku; Akamo; Alase; Ojoku; Dare; Isase; Oleke Meji and Ogido, all within the local government area.
Our reporter observed that children, women and elderly people at the protest were holding different signs with messages like, “Governor Makinde, please help us,” “No more Circular Corridor,” “Mr. Governor, don’t harm us,” and others.
Numerous buildings including homes, churches, mosques, and others have been demolished, and over 1,000 additional properties have been marked for demolition in the local government areas.
