The Rivers State Government has dissolved all taskforces, revenue collecting agencies and others working for the State Signage and Advertising Agency.
Recall that the State House of Assembly, led by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Martin Amaewhule, recently revoked the law that created the agency after the political crisis in the state.
Governor Siminalayi Fubara had recently appointed a Managing Director for the agency, but this was opposed by 27 lawmakers loyal to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom WIke. They claimed that the governor acted unlawfully by making the appointment without the Assembly's approval.
However, in a new development, the agency, in a statement signed by the RISAA Managing Director, Aye Pepple, announced the dissolution of taskforces, revenue agents, consultants and others working for the agency.
The statement, dated March 15, 2024 and obtained by our correspondent, indicated that the dissolution took immediate effect and mentioned that a revalidation exercise would be conducted later.
The statement said, “The Rivers State Signage and Advertising Agency hereby announced the dissolution of all taskforces, revenue agents, consultants, contractors and representatives working for the agency with immediate effect.
“Furthermore, there will be a revalidation exercise, and the commencement date will be communicated to all affected parties. Until this exercise is completed, the public is advised not to engage in any dealings with anyone on behalf of the agency.
“RISAA reassures all stakeholders of efficient and quality service delivery.”
