Oba Balogun was in power for two years. He passed away on Thursday at the University College Hospital, Ibadan, Oyo State, after a brief illness. Adeyemo, in a message of condolences provided to The PUNCH in Ibadan, mentioned that the rule of the late monarch brought growth to his domain.
He also mentioned that Oba Balogun gained global attention for Ibadan.
He further added that Oba Balogun attracted global attention to Ibadan.
He stated, “It is without doubt that the late Olubadan had a significant role in the political development of the nation before and during his time as a lawmaker, representing Oyo Central Senatorial District in the National Assembly from June 3, 1999 to June 3, 2003.
“In addition to his political activities from 1983, focused on human capital development, Oba Balogun’s dedication to maintaining and safeguarding Yoruba traditional heritage and institution, made him appealing to many, regardless of religious and political leanings.
“During his two-year reign, there were notable economic and infrastructure advancements in Ibadanland, bringing more attention to the historical city globally. His passing coincided with a time when his wealth of experience and management skills are greatly needed in the state and Nigeria as a whole.
“I personally offer my condolences to his immediate family, relatives, our esteemed Governor, Seyi Makinde, former Governor of the state, Rashidi Ladoja, Olubadan-In-Council, the indigenes of Ibadan, Yorubaland as a whole, and other stakeholders on the passing of our revered royal father.”
