The Deputy Governor of Ogun State, Noimot Salako-Oyedele, said the government is aware of the current economic hardship facing Nigerians due to high inflation and rising prices of goods.
Salako-Oyedele stated that the present administration is dedicated to easing the current economic challenges and helping the people as a responsible government.
The deputy governor made this statement on Saturday during the Salako Annual Family Ramadan Lecture/Tafsir at the Ota Recreation Club, Ota, headquarters of Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government, under the theme “Principles of Community Development: The Islamic Perspectives”.
She acknowledged the government's acknowledgment of the people's struggles and its unwavering commitment to providing relief.
She stated, “The government is fully aware of the people's economic challenges and will continue to fulfill its duty by taking care of their welfare.
“During this month of Ramadan, food items will be distributed to various mosques in the state as part of Governor Dapo Abiodun’s administration’s efforts to promote the well-being of the people.”
The deputy governor mentioned that the government's relief efforts include providing N50,000 to students in tertiary institutions, N10,000 to parents of pupils in primary and secondary schools, and the ongoing N10,000 payment to workers in the state.
Expressing appreciation for those who contributed to the program's success, Engr Salako-Oyedele noted that the annual lecture, which began in 2019, aims to offer spiritual guidance during Ramadan and fulfill the Islamic principle of continuous religious propagation.
She encouraged Muslim faithful to uphold Islamic principles and observe Ramadan steadfastly, praying for their supplications to be accepted as an act of worship.
In his remarks, Senator Kamaldeen Odunsi emphasized the importance of unity in Aworiland, urging people not to let politics divide them and advocating for job opportunities for unemployed youths in Ota and Ogun West.
Other dignitaries at the event included the Guest Lecturer, Special Assistant to the Kwara State Governor on Community Development, Dr. Lawal Olohungbebe, Chairman of the League of Imam and Alfas Awori Chapter, Abdulganiu Bankole, and others.
