Flying Eagles coach, Ladan Bosso, is upset about his team getting knocked out of the men’s football event. They lost 3-2 to Senegal at the Accra Sports Stadium on Friday in their final group game at the ongoing African Games in Ghana, as reported by SUNDAY PUNCH.
He also attributed his team’s poor performance at the competition to inadequate preparation.
The Flying Eagles finished third in Group B of the men’s football event, behind Uganda and Senegal, with South Sudan coming fourth in the standings.
Bosso’s team initially took the lead against Senegal in the second minute through Charles Agada, but Idrissa Traore equalised for Senegal in the 21st minute with a low shot.
Chibuzor Izuogu brought Nigeria level at 2-2 with a brilliant free kick, but Pape Diouf secured victory for Senegal by scoring from the spot, sending Senegal to the semi-finals.
“I’m disappointed because this game was the best we have played so far in this tournament,” Bosso told NAN.
“I didn’t have enough time to scout for players and what I did was to watch a few games in Uyo and other places. That’s where I saw the two Enyimba players, Daga and Chibueze.”
At the last 2019 edition in Rabat, Morocco, the Flying Eagles won silver in the men’s football event after losing 2-0 to Burkina Faso in the final.
