Don Lemon revealed this week that his new show, planned to be shown exclusively on X (widely known as Twitter), was axed before its debut, and the hosts of “The View” aren’t surprised at all. They even teased Lemon with an “I Told You So” during his appearance on the show on Friday.
“Elon Musk has terminated the partnership I had with X, which they proclaimed as part of their public commitment to promoting more diverse voices on their platform,” Lemon stated on Wednesday morning.“He informed me of his decision hours after an interview I conducted with him on Friday.”
The interview, which Lemon teased announced on Tuesday would showcase Musk “like you’ve never seen him before,” will still be the first episode of “The Don Lemon Show,” as per the statement. It will debut on Monday, March 18, on YouTube, podcast platforms, and X.
However, since Lemon grilled Musk on certain topics, the hosts of “The View” were not surprised.
“Everyone knows how controversial Musk is, so I have to ask you,” Joy Behar began. “Didn’t you know this was gonna end badly? He’s, you know, Musk is not really … you know.”
Lemon chuckled at that, but maintained that he entered into this agreement “with my eyes open” and good intentions. His reasoning was that the social media platform was too big of an opportunity to pass up in terms of audience. However, host Ana Navarro reminded him that he was cautioned.
“You did it, even though a lot of your friends told you you were crazy,” Navarro pointed out.
When Lemon responded, “Like you,” she appreciated the acknowledgment, and Lemon also confessed Sunny Hostin said something similar.
“I did too!” Hostin happily confirmed, taking a dramatic sip from her mug.
