Manitoba’s police watchdog concluded that an RCMP officer should face charges for participating in a high-speed chase last summer.
On August 29, 2023, an officer saw a motorcycle driving dangerously and at a high speed on Highway 5 near Dauphin.
A pursuit started after several attempts to pull over the motorcycle were unsuccessful, and the chase resulted in several close calls.
The Independent Investigation Unit began an inquiry into the incident and found that RCMP Cpl. Kevin Challoner is being charged with failure to drive with proper regard for safety.
