A large section of Main Street in Exeter, Ontario is closed off. ExeterOntario, and a single block of John Street have been blocked off by the police. Huron OPP due to an “ongoing police investigation.”
Shortly after midday on Friday, the police said there would be more police in Exeter today and an hour later they announced that roads are closed.
Main Street is closed from Huron Street to Wellington Street, and John Street is closed from Main Street to Andrew Street, one block east.
Yesterday, the police said they were on John Street for a secret investigation. Then, at around 5 p.m., the police said they had executed a search warrant and arrested one person “without incident.” At that time, only John Street was closed.
The police have not given any more details about why Main Street is closed, and they have not explained the nature of the investigation. However, the police have told Global News that there are no public safety worries for now.
“Drivers and residents are asked to respect the closures and stay away from the area. Commercial trucks will need to plan ahead if they want to go into or through the Town of Exeter,” the police said in a statement.
“Other truck routes around Exeter include Morrison Line and Airport Line.”
