HANOVER TWP. — Still exploring the delicious Visit Luzerne County Pizza Trail, we've arrived at Benny Brewing Company, located at 1429 Sans Souci Parkway. Here, the art of brewing meets a delightful variety of flavors to accompany it.
Benny’s is a treasure trove of unique offerings such as their brick oven pizzas or “From the Pit” smoked meats that will definitely leave you eager to plan your next visit for more.
The idea of their homemade brews and tasty pairings was initiated by owner Ben Schonfeld. Taking pride in setting his product apart, he established an entire brand and company centered around his distinct offerings.
With a wide range of innovative pizza options like “The Brew Master,” it was challenging to make a selection.
I ultimately chose the Red Garlic, a brick oven pizza featuring San Marzano tomato sauce, a blend of aged 3 cheeses, roasted garlic, and other ingredients that harmonized quite well.
From the first bite, I knew I had made the correct choice. The sauce was ideal, slightly sweet and incredibly fresh. The cheese elevated this pizza, providing a decadent and distinctive flavor, with different cheeses complementing each other to create the perfect bite.
What made this pizza stand out more than any other was the brick oven element. The difference lies in the taste and texture, with the brick oven creating the ideal smoky and crispy crust.
Pizzas are available in one size, but provide six satisfying slices. I shared mine and still had leftovers for the next day. Pizza prices vary from $14 to $17, offering great value for the money.
To complement the pizza, we also ordered garlic parm boneless wings. Once again, they were fantastic. These wings were not your typical fried chicken bites, but rather reminiscent of smokehouse chicken, served with a rich garlic parm sauce. This homemade sauce could easily outshine store-bought brands.
Without even mentioning their renowned in-house crafted beers, BennyBrew Co. clearly stands out on its own when it comes to their food and pizza quality.
The staff is accommodating and friendly, always available. The atmosphere is lively and enjoyable — we even enjoyed live entertainment from a band on Saturday night after our meal. Benny’s hosts a range of events such as trivia, crafting classes, cornhole, and more to engage the community.
