The Balogun of Ibadanland, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, is expected to be crowned as the next Olubadan of Ibadanland, pending approval from the state governor, Seyi Makinde.
He will become the new Olubadan following the passing of the 42nd Olubadan, Oba Lekan Balogun, on Thursday.
He is next in line to the late Olubadan.
Makinde, in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Sulaimon Olanrewaju, confirmed Oba Balogun's passing at the University College Hospital, Ibadan.
The late monarch, who was born on October 18, 1942, reigned for two years.
He will be laid to rest according to Islamic customs on Friday at 4 pm.
Olakulehin, next in line from the Balogun line and hailing from Ita Baale in Ibadan North East Local Government, will ascend to the throne, as reported by The Nation.
He served as a member of the House of Representatives in the Third Republic.
It is anticipated that palace drummers will move from Alli-Iwo to the Ita Baale Palace of Ọba Olakulehin, marking his symbolic ascension to the throne.
