President Bola Tinubu is having state governors over for a Ramadan Iftar (meal to break the fast) at the Banquet Hall of the Aso Rock Villa, Abuja.
The governors are the President’s initial group of Iftar guests. He is likely to have more similar gatherings with senior government officials during the holy month.
During previous Ramadan fasts, former President Muhammadu Buhari invited the leadership of the National Assembly, the Judiciary, the All Progressives Congress, and traditional rulers, among others.
Although the meeting was not open to full media coverage, our correspondent observed the governors arriving around 6:30 pm.
At this time, the seated governors include those from Kwara, Delta, Benue, Plateau, Kogi, Kebbi, Bauchi, Borno, Ogun, Nassarawa, Ebonyi, Bayelsa, Gombe, Abia, Edo and Kaduna.
