The company that runs Slave Lake Pulp has told Global News that a contractor died at the site on Wednesday.
Joyce Wagenaar, communications director for West Fraser, which operates Slave Lake Pulp, said a contractor was fatally injured while repairing a piece of mobile equipment at the mill, which was not in operation at the time.
The company spokesperson mentioned that West Fraser is working with Alberta Occupation Health and Safety (OHS) as it investigates.
Wagenaar expressed condolences to the individual’s family, colleagues, and the Slave Lake Pulp team during this challenging time.
The company did not share more details about the individual.
