A 45-year-old man named Tajudeen Olaleye has been ordered to be held in prison at the Correctional Centre in Ado Ekiti by an Ekiti State Magistrates’ Court. This is due to the accusation that he murdered a mediator during a fight.
Inspector Yomi Osuolale, the police prosecutor, informed the court on Thursday that the defendant carried out the crime on March 10, in Otun Ekiti, within the Moba Local Government Area of the state.
Osuolale claimed that the defendant killed a woman named Mrs Rasaki Taibat.
The defendant was involved in a fight with someone in the neighborhood. When the deceased tried to intervene, the defendant stabbed her with a bottle, resulting in her death.
He mentioned that this action goes against Section 234 of the Criminal Laws of Ekiti State, 2012.
The prosecutor requested the court to keep the defendant at the correctional center until they receive legal advice from the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions.
Mrs Olubunmi Bamidele, the Magistrate, ordered the defendant to be held at the correctional center until legal advice is given, and postponed the case to April 25 for further discussion.
