FORT MYERS, Fla. – Brian Serven hit a two-run home run in the third inning, helping the Toronto Blue Jays continue their winning streak with a 5-1 win over the Minnesota Twins in a pre-season game on Thursday.
Davis Schneider scored a run with a sacrifice fly, Rafael Lantigua hit an RBI double, and Steward Berroa, with a bases-loaded walk, contributed to the Toronto (10-9) offense.
Bowden Francis (2-1) got two strikeouts and gave up four hits and one run in six innings as the starting pitcher for the Jays. Wes Parsons secured the save by pitching the final three innings.
Edouard Julien brought in Minnesota’s (6-12) only run with a single in the third inning.
Starting pitcher Bailey Ober (1-1) suffered the loss for the Twins. He allowed three runs, four hits, and one walk, and recorded three strikeouts in 2 2/3 innings.
Toronto will face the Detroit Tigers next on Friday in Dunedin, Fla.
