Despite all expectations, “Open Range,” which first appeared on Prime Video over two years ago, is making a comeback. “Open Range” Season 2 is set to premiere on May 16.
What’s also noteworthy is that Josh Brolin, the main actor who plays a rancher dealing with strange events such as a seemingly endless hole appearing on his land, will be making his directorial debut in the second to last episode of the season. This season will have seven episodes instead of the first season’s eight, and all episodes will be released on May 16.
Newly released images reveal that Will Patton, Imogen Poots, Lily Taylor, and Lewis Pullman will be returning. According to the official description, “The mystery surrounding the enigmatic void on the west pasture of the Abbott family ranch deepens in Season 2, as Royal and his wife Cecelia (Lili Taylor) struggle to keep their family together after their granddaughter’s sudden disappearance. The stakes have never been higher for the Abbotts, who now face threats on multiple fronts.”
In this new season, the characters are pushed further into the void with unexpected circumstances that could shake the very fabric of time itself. One of the images suggests that at least part of the season may take place in the distant past, which is intriguing, especially if you haven’t seen the first season.
“Outer Range” has a new showrunner for season 2, Charles Murray, who also executive produces. Murray takes over from playwright Brian Watkins, the creator of the series who wrote or co-wrote most of the first season’s episodes. Murray has previously worked on “Sons of Anarchy” and Netflix’s “True Story.”
The show also includes actors Tamara Podemski, Tom Pelphrey, Noah Reid, Shaun Sipos, Isabel Arraiza, and Olive Abercrombie.
“Outer Range” is produced by Charles Murray, Brad Pitt, Dede Gardner, Jeremy Kleiner, Ernest McNealey, Josh Brolin, Tony Krantz, Heather Rae, and Jon Paré.
