The food bank in Moose Jaw and District needs assistance because a collapse of the sewer and waterline caused the building to shut down for the public.
The organization is aiming to collect $30,000 to aid with repairs inside and outside the structure.
“Recently, we've had quite a few issues with our sewer,” the operations manager, Terri Smith, stated. food bank’s Smith mentioned that the financial aspect has been challenging, as most of their funds are spent on food and salaries.
Smith explained that, as a non-profit, they strive to generate as much revenue as possible for expenses, food purchases, and employee payments. However, managing a large expense is more difficult.

Meanwhile, some people in Moose Jaw are looking for food.
According to Smith, approximately 850 food hampers are distributed every month, and there has been a 58 per cent increase in food bank use over the past year.
Currently, a notice has been placed outside the food bank to inform people where they can access meals if they are experiencing food insecurity.
Smith is optimistic about having the building operational again by the week's end.
