The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority has advised private jet owners with non-commercial flight permits not to engage in commercial flight activities. They have warned that severe penalties will be imposed for not following this instruction.
This information was in a statement released by Michael Achimugu, the authority’s Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, on Wednesday.
He stressed that PNCF owners are not allowed to use their aircraft to transport passengers, cargo, or mail for payment (commercial operations or charter services).
He mentioned that this directive aligns with Section 32 (4) of the Civil Aviation Act 2022, and highlighted that the NCAA will take enforcement actions against any PNCF holder found conducting unauthorized operations, including suspension, withdrawal, or revocation of their Permit for Non-Commercial Flight.
“The public is hereby notified that it is illegal to engage PNCF holders for commercial purposes,” the statement partially read.
He indicated that NCAA officials have been sent to General Aviation Terminals and private wings of the airports to monitor the activities of the PNCF holders.
Reiterating the NCAA’s strong position on zero tolerance for violations of the Nigeria Civil Aviation Regulations 2023, Achimugu underlined that the NCAA would continue to enforce strict compliance by implementing appropriate penalties.
